Mercy Corps Mongolia is seeking an experienced person for the position of Director of Programs. S/he will bring bold ideas and vision for scale in impact, including a social entrepreneurial approach to program development, a consistent field orientation and good donor and external stakeholder representation skills.

 

Background:Based on the existing context and 15 years of lessons-learned, Mercy Corps has started building up a flagship program called Mongolia Resilient Communities' Program to foster and protect development gains and support Mongolia to shape its future opportunities. With an overarching goal of building an inclusive, productive and resilient economic future for Mongolia's vulnerable rural and urban populations, the program proposes to focus on the social, ecological, and economic system dynamics that affect the country.

 

The Director of Programs will:

  • lead a 5 years Mongolia Resilient Communities program as Chief of Party and directly manage its day today implementation

  • Work with the Country team members to formulate and revise country program strategies and priorities, and to communicate this strategy to constituencies
  • Support the Country Director in country level strategic planning and in the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration of humanitarian relief and development projects
  • Prioritize, and contribute to the preparation of, concept papers, proposals, and other funding opportunities for new projects/ programs, oversee the development of annual, integrated strategic work-plans for the program
  • Create and follow effective stakeholder management plans, ensuring sound and proactive communications with Mercy Corps Mongolia, partner organizations, Mercy Corps headquarters, Government of Mongolia authorities, and peer agencies
  • Lead the development of detailed implementation plans, flowing from annual strategic work-plans, and ensure the delivery of the same
  • Supervise Project Managers/ Program Managers, ensuring that projects: follow sound planning processes; have high performing teams; focus on detail, quality, and results; have strong monitoring & evaluation frameworks; deploy cutting-edge technical approaches; and, that good participatory methods and stakeholder management approaches are used
